Nuestra Señora del Pilar Basilica

Address: Junín 1904 – Recoleta

Located in the most privileged area of the city, this is one of the few colonial constructions that are still standing.
It dates back to 1716, when the Spanish Governor ordered its construction for the Order of the Recoletos, an order that separated from the Franciscan Order.
Its main altar displays incredible decorative items, and the lateral altars, of a baroque style, stand out as well. It keeps objects and relics of great artistic and historic value that belonged to the Recoletos that lived in it.
On the right side of the façade, there is a double belfry, unique in the city, crowned by a spherical clock.
It was restored between 1930 and 1940, when an important part of the original structure was lost.
