This is an expedition which runs along the Natural Reserve Estancia 25 de
Mayo.

The itinerary runs through Provincial Route No. 15 getting to 25 de Mayo
Natural Reserve up to reach an old stone post, place where lived the first
family that inhabited the ranch. There, people will be part of a chat that
tells the story from the first ranches in the area, the crisis of wool
production and the actuality in this place.

Then, it gets back on the path to advance through further landscapes, with
no other reference points that the surrounding mountains, where the native
flora and fauna coexists with fossils from 70 million years ago, when the
same place had sea beaches. It is possible to find huge oysters that formed
a reef long time ago and its stamps are printed on the surface, as well as
remains of plants, giant extinct animals and groups of millenarian crabs,
very well preserved over a thousand meters above sea level. These lands,
today converted in Patagonian steppe in its purest state, are refuge of
native fauna like ostriches, condors and guanacos presented in huge herds
that invite to incredible approaching moments.

The itinerary continues to the south, closer to the border limits with
Chile, where will take a stunning panoramic view. This usually is the
perfect moment to taste the traditional Argentine mate with some homemade
cookies.

After one and a half hours the tour reaches to La Seccion a house
comfortably equipped, decorated with genuine English style furniture, which
has a large living room, bathroom, kitchen and an auxiliary dining room.
Here will take place a meal with an unbeatable view of the endless
Patagonia.

Finally, it returns to El Calafate making some panoramic stops on the way
back to enjoy the views of Argentino Lake and the Andes from the heights.
