Port Blest and Cascada Los Cántaros

It is a full-day excursion that shows you one of the most beautiful places in Nahuel HuapĂ National Park, navigating along the Blest arm up to Puerto Blest (Port Blest), just a few kilometers from the Chilean border.
The trip begins at Puerto Pañuelo on Llao Llao Peninsula, 20 km from Bariloche. After a short distance the boat navigates into the Blest arm, the most importantone of the sevenarms in Lake Nahuel Huapí. The entrance to it is framed by the hills Capilla and Millaqueo, and the Centinela islet, where the remains of Perito Francisco Pascacio Moreno, the creator of the National Park, rest.

This area is located in the Valdivian jungle, with lush vegetation due to the abundant rains. The landscape is similar to the far Norwegian fiords or the Tierra del Fuego Channels.
After navigating for one hour, you will reach Port Blest, where you will be given time for lunch. You may either eat at the restaurant of the hotel orat a simple snack bar, oryou may choose to take a meal with you from the hotel.

Optional Lake FrĂas
After lunch, you maychoose to take an excursion to Lake FrĂas. In such case, you will take a bus from Port Blest for three km through the woods, to find yourself in front of the Great legendary Coihue "El Abuelo" (Grandfather) a one-hundred-and fifty-yeared-old tree, still standing. When you reach Puerto Alegre, you will board a catamaran to navigate the FrĂas Lake for about 20 minutes. In the surrounding landscape the Tronador hill stands out, as well as the Echo Wall, a high rock formation that invites you to scream to confirm that its name is not only a picturesque fact.

The itinerary ends in Puerto FrĂas, at the GendarmerĂa Nacional post and the border with Chile.
You return by the same itinerary to Port Blest, where you will meet with the passengers that did not take the excursion, to navigate on to the opposite side of the Blest arm, and disembark at Puerto Cántaros. From there, you will take a walk through the jungle on a terraced path in order to reach Los Cántaros Lagoon, where there is a beautiful cascade and many natural view points.
You will navigate back to Bariloche by the same route.

Note:
This excursion implies no difficulty. Therefore, it is suitable for all ages.
The ascent to the cascade Los Cántaros is optional. Those who choose not to make it may stay at the beach and observe the jungle landscape.
The times of departure and return vary according to the season, depending it on the length of the day light. The usual schedule is from 8am to 5 pm for the full-day excursion and from noon to 7 pm for the half-day option.
