Description
This is a complete excursion that combines a ride through the jungle with the spectacular falls, seen from a boat located right where the water hits the river.
Depending on the weather and the river flow, you may start at either of the two parts. When starting with navigation, the departure point is the Paseo Inferior pier, opposite to San Martín island. When starting with the jungle exploration, departure is from the visitor’s center.
We will describe the tour to you as starting from the latter.
From the visitor’s center, you will take the narrow Yacaratiá path, on transportation vehicles specially designed for such environment, they have no roof in order to allow riders to take pictures and tape the whole the ride. You can count on the presence of bilingual guides on every vehicle; they will provide all the information related to the particular environment you will visit, as well as its history and secrets.
This 8-km ride ends at Puerto Macuco Base, where you will start a 100-meter downward walk to the service center (which offers a sickbay); you will make a short stop at this place. Afterwards, you will continue the descent, this time some steps down, towards the floating platform, where you will board one of the semi rigid boats or motorboats in order to take the nautical part of the excursion.
The craft will go 6 km along the inferior canyon of the Iguazú river, always with a view of the falls. Out of this distance, 2 km are along the rapids. At the end, you will reach the area of the falls proper. You will navigate at the foot of the “Tres Mosqueteros” (three musketeers) fall, with the Brazilian falls and the Devil’s Throat right in front of you.
Finally, the boat will skirt San Martín island towards the spectacular San Martin fall, the second largest, and the largest one the boat can get close to, where your “Christening in the Mist” takes place.
Afterwards, bows to San Martin island again, you will navigate to the Paseo Inferior pier, in the area of the footbridges, where you will disembark.
Note:
Repellent, sunscreen and a hat are recommended.
We also recommend that you put all your belongings in nylon bags, as they will otherwise get wet when passing by the falls.
As in all jungle tours, it is recommended to wear clothes that cover the most of your skin, such as socks, long sleeves, etc.
The guides (bilingual) carry a first aids kit in case it is needed.
