From its far-off <strong>birth at the end of the 19th Century<\/strong> to its vigorous present, it has gone through various stages.<\/h2>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"font-family: NonBreakingSpaceOverride, 'Hoefler Text', Garamond, 'Times New Roman', serif; letter-spacing: normal;\" src=\"\/images\/buenos_aires\/tango\/origenes\/epoca_de_oro\/Imagen_059.jpg\" alt=\"Fileteado de Carlos Gardel\" width=\"170\" height=\"240\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"5\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>After a picaresque and provocative beginning, the first years of the 20th Century turned it melancholic and bleak.<\/strong> It was the times of the legendary Carlos Gardel, who took it to Paris and then enjoyed a triumphal return to Buenos Aires.<\/p>\n<p>Undoubtedly,<strong> the 40\u2019s<\/strong> were the <strong>golden age of tango<\/strong>. Musicians and composers multiplied themselves -as tango dancing did- in countless clubs and <em>milongas.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>During the 60\u2019s, with the rock &amp; roll boom, the popularity of tango decreased significantly.<\/strong> It carried the stigma of being<strong> \u201cmusic for the old\u201d<\/strong>. However, it kept on breeding new talents. <strong>Astor Piazzolla<\/strong> is the most representative artist of this period, and <strong>founder of the tango avant-garde<\/strong>. His innovative proposal, based on a new kind of sonority, definitively broke with tango\u2019s orthodoxy.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"\/images\/buenos_aires\/tango\/postaugeyactualidad\/viejo_correo_milongueando.jpg\" alt=\"Milongueando\" width=\"240\" height=\"170\" align=\"left\" hspace=\"5\" vspace=\"5\" \/><strong>The last years of the 20th Century find tango with renovated strength<\/strong>, once again supported by its increasing popularity in the United States and Europe. Young people rediscovered its old lyrics and, as inheritors of Piazzolla&#8217;s legacy, undertook the task of experimenting on the basis of tango.<\/p>\n<p>And this is how we arrive at present, in the 2020&#8217;s when <strong>tango welcomes everyone<\/strong>: typical orchestras to dance, proposals of fusion with diverse genres (even electronica!), <em>milongas<\/em> where devotees of the old style lecture the <strong>young people<\/strong> who approach, once again<strong> in love with this \u201cdanced feeling of melancholy\u201d <\/strong>inaugurated by their grandparents.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Tango has its own life history.
