From that day on she was venerated as the virgin of sailors and was called <strong>Bonaira, or Good Air<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>She arrived in Spain in the hands of sailors and her cult became popular, especially in the port of Seville where the expeditions to the New Word departed from.<\/p>\n<p>This is how <strong>she arrived to the R\u00edo de la Plata<\/strong>, carried by two priests who were a part of the group commanded by <strong>Don Pedro de Mendoza<\/strong> and decided to name the city in her honor. For this reason Buenos Aires was named <strong>\u201cPuerto de Nuestra Se\u00f1ora Santa Mar\u00eda del Buen Ayre<\/strong>\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>From 1932 the City has worshiped the Virgen Bonaira in the <strong>church<\/strong> constructed in the name of <strong>\u201cNuestra Se\u00f1ora del Buen Ayre\u201d<\/strong> (Our Lady of Good Air) located in the <strong>neighbourhood of Caballito<\/strong> in the corner of Gaona and Espinosa.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Anyone may conclude that the first explorers that arrived on these lands found the \u201cgood air of Buenos Aires\u201d and this is the reason why the city got its name.
