Sarmiento Theatre

It is located in Palermo, right inside the zoo and only meters away from Plaza Italia, this theater is part of the “Complejo Teatral”, in the hands of the Culture Bureau.
It was inaugurated during the ‘30s and it is believed to have originally been related to kids entertainment due to the finding of a plaque with the inscription “Theater of the Children, January 31st, 1938”. For many years, it was used for other purposes, like animal food storage). In 1955, the city authorities rescued and redesigned it in order to reopen it for children. In the ‘70s, its management was handed to the San Martin theater, when a program for adults was added. After being closed for long due to restoration, it was incorporated to the Complejo Teatral with the intention of assigning it to new trends, thus becoming a research center, apart form an experimental productions theater.
