Regina Theatre

Address: Av. Santa Fe 1235 – Retiro

This theater takes up one of the ten floors of the Theater House founded in 1938 as a result of the action of Regina Pacini de Alvear, an opera singer whose intention was to give shelter to homeless artists during the last stage of her life. It was built by the architect Virasoro for no charge, and it is considered among the purest samples of Art Decó in Buenos Aires. The money earned from presentations and the rent collected from the two ground-floor businesses, added to donations by privates, are the means of support to the forty-five lodgers, given that the government’s subsidies are not enough. This theater offers quality independent productions.
