Cervantes National Theatre

Address: Libertad 815 – Retiro

This is one of the buildings known in the city for its marked Hispanic spirit, which originated in the project of a Spanish couple who intended to erect a monument to the beauty of Spanish Art. This is a work by the architects Fernando Arana Arias and Emilio Repetto; the style, details and design are replicas of Spanish emblematic constructions.
This is the only National Theater, offering a range of classic plays at really accessible prices. Apart from the intense official season proposal, it features international guest figures, special shows for schools, and shelters the Teatro Cervantes Friends’ Association. It offers a Tuesday (and sometimes Thursday) performance by the National Orchestra Juan de Dios Filiberto, conducted by Atilio Stampone and Nestor Marconi, playing mostly tango, and some folk music with guest singers and dancers.
This theater also manages a lot of activity apart from presentations, such as forums, workshops and seminars on theater, where outstanding national and international figures give lectures.
