Tres de Febrero Park

Address: Av. Libertador y Av. Sarmiento s/n – Palermo

Its name refers to the date when the Caseros Battle took place (significant in our country as the battle that united it). This place was chosen by its mentor, president Domingo Faustino Sarmiento, when he decided to demolish a huge 500 square-meter house, which had been the famous residence of former Governor Juan Manuel de Rosas. Its inauguration took place in 1857, when the project was started, although it was continued and enlarged by the landscaper Carlos Thays in 1913.
The only record of the exact location of Rosas’ house is the bust of Sarmiento, by Great Rodin, which, for this, has an artistic value that makes it one of the most important sculptures in the city. Beside it, there is a plaque that displays symbolic bricks saying, “This used to be the seat of Rosas’ house”.
