Fifth Buenos Aires Tango Festival

There is party in Buenos Aires and it's about Tango! The city opens its arms to hold a splendid, 10 days long, Tango festival which is organized by the Secretary of Culture of the city of Buenos Aires. It will take place from March 1st. to 9th., 2003.

All the famous Tango artists and performers. Orchestras, singers, teachers and musicians gathered to offer the best of their arts across 40 shows that will take place at different locations in Buenos Aires, 9th. largest city in the world and Home of Tango.

All the dance with the greatest Tango dancers with whom people from all over the globe will be able to participate and take Tango lessons for beginners, which will be totally free, by the way.

And for the daring and experienced, there is also a compelling reason to attend this unique event: there will be perfectioning classes and an intense agenda of masterful lessons, by the most renowned and prestigious dancers and "maestros milongueros".

And of course, there is the Tango Dancing World Championship where couples from all the world willing to show their skills will be able to participate...

There will be two categories: Stage Tango and Dance floor Tango. The winners will be consecrated as the first World Tango Champions, getting not only the credit but cash prizes as well.

The opening of the Festival will be in charge of the Sexteto Mayor, a worldwide famous Tango Orchestra featuring guest artists. Pure Tango at its best, on March 1st. at an open stage mounted in the very heart of the beautiful Palermo Gardens.

And the closing will be double; on Sat. March 8th. a big "Milonga" at Avenida Corrientes, natural frame for Tango, to dance with the best live Tango orchestras. And on Sunday 9th., the final event with a big Popular Tango Gathering at the Obras Sanitarias Stadium.
