Skiing in Cerro Chapelco

San Martín de los Andes, located by the shore of Lago Lacar in the National Park Lanin, has uncountable attractions that make it a privileged tourism destination all year long.

But in winter, the eyes are fixed on Cerro Chapelco, ski center only 20 kilometers away from this city. You can get there after no more than 15 minutes on National Route n° 234, asphalt route, and then 5 minutes more on Provincial Route N° 19 to the base of the center, located 1250 meters above sea level.

It has 29 marked tracks, with a new system of signals, covering 140 hectares of skiing surface. The 10 elevation means have a modern system of control through magnetic cards, called snow-pass, which permits the skiers move around the whole of the hill with no problems. Besides, they have a new quadruple chair lift whose speed can be regulated to bring comfort and safety to the users.

Among the new means of elevation that will be presented this season there are two ski carpets which correspond to the first learning stage of skiing. It is a modern travellator that lifts the skiers wearing all their equipment. Besides, there will be 3 new snow machines and snow cannons.

From the top to the base the skiing slope is one of 730 meters, with an angle of 45°.

There is a high-status ski training center where you can learn all the different types, Alpine ski, Nordic ski and snowboard. They also have a special area for the experienced skiers.

There are several restaurants, snack bars and shelters at different heights and also ski clothes and equipment rental services, obviously.
