El Calafate: adventure at Huyliche Hill on a 4WD!<--:-->

This excursion will take you through the Patagonia steppe and show you awesome views, in totally exclusive places, where private vehicles cannot enter.

After leaving El Calafate, we will ascend 1050 m above sea level, in order to reach the first viewpoint, where you will get a panoramic view of El Calafate and the east side of Lake Argentino. Provided it is clear, you will be able to see Cerro Chaltén and Cerro Torre, as well as watch the condors fly.
Then, you will resume the ascent up to Las Piedras Labyrinth, formed 85 million years ago, during the cretaceous period, where you will be able to see fossils.

Shortly afterwards, you will start the descent towards Piedra de los Sombreros, where you will be served a simple cold drink.

Cerro Huyliche on 4X4Finally, you will go back to El Calafate, down along the north side of the chain, the lake Argentino always at sight. Before arriving in town, you will make a stop in order to be shown the circuit covered up to the moment.

The total distance covered is 45 km, in three hours. It is an ideal excursion to take the day you arrive in town, as it is rather short.

Suggestion: make it in late afternoon, so as to witness the sunset from above.

Note:

Two daily departures, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, are available. The minimum required is three passengers for the excursion to be confirmed. The exact times of departure and return are agreed upon confirmation.
